Mira Sorvino Is A History Geek

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Oscar-winning actress Mira Sorvino isn’t ashamed to admit she’s a total history geek.

Sorvino plays a female Indiana Jones in the archeology adventure miniseries, The Last Templar, airing Sunday (Jan. 24) and Monday (Jan. 25) on NBC.

Growing up, Sorvino dreamed of being an archeologist and studied history while attending Harvard.

She recently went on vacation with her husband and two toddlers to Egypt, where they explored ancient pyramids and experienced history firsthand.

While her tots may be mini history buffs in the making, Sorvino is very careful about shielding them from the gory parts of history.

When she watches The History Channel at home, she makes sure her toddlers aren’t in the room during “scary re- enactment” scenes that often include fighting and bloodshed.

She recently let her four-and-a-half-year-old watch The Last Templar under “strict supervision” which included Sorvino covering the tot’s eyes everytime a scene got too intense.

She laughs, “I was met with much resistance and a bunch of ‘Let me see, let me see!’”
