Champion Duck Callers Become Big Stars

STUTTGART, Ark. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Being a duck calling champion makes you an instant celebrity in Stuttgart, Arkansas.

The 73rd Annual World Championship Duck Calling Contest is flying into town this Friday (Nov. 28) and Saturday (Nov. 29), and 70 quacky contestants will vie for the victory.

According to event spokesperson Stephen Bell, the winner – who’s hailed for having the most realistic duck call – not only wins $8,000 and a commemorative ring, but also becomes a big time celebrity in town.

He says, “They become really well known locally. That’s why the competition is so fierce. Everyone wants their son to be a champion duck caller.”

Bell says winners often use their newfound fame in the duck hunting world to create a line of duck calls, duck hunting clothing, and even parlay into the world of politics.

Bell explains, “The mayor of Stuttgart is considered one of the best duck callers ever. It might have helped him win the election. If you get into duck hunting, you can make a whole life of it.”
