SPAM Saves Broke Americans

AUSTIN, Minn. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – When America is struggling, people turn to the one thing that never lets them down – SPAM.

The SPAM Museum in Austin, Minnesota, celebrates the canned meat and its role in American history, and “spambassador” John O’Rourke says SPAM is the trusted tin that gets people by in tough times.

He says, “It’s very popular. I would say it’s true blue American food. With the economy being how it is right now, people look to SPAM because it’s tasty and inexpensive.”

O’Rourke says visitors to the mystery meat museum are often skeptical that they’ll enjoy it, but always leave “very surprised and very happy.”

They also end up jonesin’ for the tinned treat.

O’Rourke says, “People come out and say, ‘Good Lord, I’ve got to have some SPAM right now, I’m so hungry!’

Lucky for those folks every restaurant in the area serves up SPAM, and spambassadors like O’Rourke are always happy to point them in the right direction.
