Flute Foursome Are The Spice Girls Of Chamber Music

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Chamber music is destined for hip, new changes if one foursome of flutists get their way.

Areon Flutes is a California-based flute quartet that’s more like a fierce girl group of the classical music world.

Member Kassey LeBow says each girl in the group has their own distinct personality – much like the Spice Girls or The Donnas – and compliment each other on stage.

The flutists have a stylist who coordinates their outfits for concerts and even helps them with costume changes between sets.

They perform choreography along with their music, which ranges from yoga-like moves to theatrics wearing masks, and LeBow says it’s impossible to fall asleep at one of their shows.

She calls her group the “future of chamber music” because they incorporate elements from other genres like jazz, punk, and rock ’n’ roll into their compositions while getting the audience involved.

Their goal is to one day play flute alongside a DJ spinning house and hip-hop tunes to prove that the woodwind doesn’t blow.
