According to Rabbi Simcha Weinstein, author of The Shtick Shift: Jewish Humor in the 21st Century (Barricade), jewish comedians helped shape this presidential election more than any news source.
He says the Jewish writers on SNL and The Daily Show played a huge role in getting information to young voters in a funny and smart way throughout the election, ultimately putting Obama in the White House.
Weinstein even credits jewish funnywoman Sarah Silverman for helping Obama win Florida with her Great Schlep campaign, which encouraged Jewish youth to get their retired grandparents into voting booths.
Judging by the results of this years election, Weinstein believes future candidates will have to incorporate Jewish comedians into their campaigns if they want to win.
He explains, The youth is running out to vote instead of smoking pot at home, so politicians need to cater to them.
