Elephant Museum Becomes Republican Vacation Destination

ORRTANNA, Pa. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Mister Ed’s Elephant Museum in Orrtanna, Pennsylvania, has big fans from the Red States.

The museum – which displays more than 10,000 elephant figurines and statues including a life-size, talking elephant named Miss Ellie – is a favorite vacation destination for staunch Republicans.

Museum owner Mister Ed Gotwalt says, “A lot of Republicans stop by and take a picture with a big elephant. They do it very tongue-in-cheek, since it’s their party’s mascot.”

However, Gotwalt assures he’s equally welcoming to Democratic visitors.

Still, John McCain might get a bigger kick out of riding Commander Eli, who’s the favorite elephant with Republicans at the museum because he shoots water from his trunk.

Gotwalt says visiting Reps always pose with Eli, with some local politicians using the statue for their campaign pictures.

Though Eli may or may not be a political lucky charm, Gotwalt says it couldn’t hurt McCain’s campaign to strike a pose with the animal.
