Doing the downward dog in total silence is so yesterday now that Laughter Yoga is the latest craze in spiritual workouts.
The belly-aching exercise involves controlled breathing, hand clapping, and laughing out loud while staring into another persons eyes.
According to Vishwa Prakesh, the American ambassador for Laughter Yoga, the funny fitness routine can make you a happier, healthier person.
He says, Its an induced laughter to start, but very soon its contagious. Its playful and uplifting, so youre able to de-stress. You also lose weight. In a one- hour session, you can burn 400 calories.
Prakesh says even people with no sense of humor can practice laughter yoga, and assures that the giggles are all natural.
He explains, There are no funny movies, jokes, or alcohol allowed. The laughter comes from within.
