Thats according to Charlotte Huggins, a producer of 3-D films who has two 3-D movies coming out this summer, Journey To The Center Of The Earth starring Brendan Fraser, and Fly Me To The Moon.
Huggins says that 3-D movies should be like going to a theme park, where there are edges, turns, and sensations at every corner.
To make her own 3-D films uniquely visceral, Huggins has two techniques she uses that always get a guaranteed reaction from the audience.
She says the off-screen scare, where something jumps off the screen unexpectedly at the audience, always gets a gasp and jump from the crowd, but must be used carefully at just the right time.
The over-the-edge feeling like youre going to fall is her other go-to effect.
She explains, When people squirm in their seats and grip the person beside them for safety, youve done something right!
Journey To The Center Of The Earth hits theaters July 11. Fly Me To The Moon follows on August 8.
