‘In Plain Sight’ Actor Gets Highly Secret Training

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Fred Weller got top secret training for his latest TV role, but he can’t tell you much about it.

On the new crime drama series In Plain Sight, Weller plays a U.S. Marshal working in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program (WITSEC) who helps relocate Federal witnesses.

But getting into character was difficult, especially since WITSEC is a very secretive organization that’s tough to research.

Weller trained for the part with the help of a technical advisor for the witness protection program who taught him the ways of WITSEC.

After picking the expert’s brain, Weller learned shocking stats.

He says, “A huge percentage of people that go into the relocation program are completely innocent. They’re not just mobsters and gangbangers. They’re people who need protection from organized crime.”

If he was ever relocated, Weller believes he could pull off his secret life “indefinitely.”

However, he’s not sure if the show has made him more secretive.

He teases, “I can’t say...”

In Plain Sight premieres Sunday (Jun. 1) on USA.
