On the new crime drama series In Plain Sight, Weller plays a U.S. Marshal working in the highly secretive branch of the witness protection program (WITSEC) who helps relocate Federal witnesses.
But getting into character was difficult, especially since WITSEC is a very secretive organization thats tough to research.
Weller trained for the part with the help of a technical advisor for the witness protection program who taught him the ways of WITSEC.
After picking the experts brain, Weller learned shocking stats.
He says, A huge percentage of people that go into the relocation program are completely innocent. Theyre not just mobsters and gangbangers. Theyre people who need protection from organized crime.
If he was ever relocated, Weller believes he could pull off his secret life indefinitely.
However, hes not sure if the show has made him more secretive.
He teases, I cant say...
