Broken Toys Make Bangin’ Beats

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A broken toy can make some bangin’ beats.

The 5th Annual Bent Festival is happening Thursday (Apr. 24) through Saturday (Apr.26) in New York, where attendees can learn the art of circuit bending, or taking apart children’s toys to make musical instruments out of them.

Festival founder Mike Rosenthal says people can create a multitude of sounds with broken down toys.

He says, “It’s interactive and really engaging. You get to rip apart toys and make art and music from scratch. We wanted people to get excited about electronic music. Even though it’s hard to get good at circuit bending, anyone can learn.”

According to Rosenthal, it’s best to raid thrift stores for classic toys like Speak and Spells, which he says get “crazy results,” and create great dance songs to party to.
