Saint Stupid Takes To The Streets

BERKELEY, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – A stupid parade is ready to roll through the streets of San Francisco.

Today (Apr. 1) marks the 30th Annual Saint Stupid’s Day Parade, where 500 rowdy revelers will celebrate Saint Stupid, who – according to Bay-Area religion the First Church of the Last Laugh – is the Patron Saint of Parking Meters and Civilizations.

On the parade route, costumed marchers will throw lottery tickets at the Federal Reserve, participate in a sock exchange, and chant sayings like, “I know I know, but, ya know, ya never know.”

Bishop Joey – a leader of the made-up religion – says anyone is welcome to the event.

He adds, “If you’re human, then you’re part of the religion. Stupidity is in everyone’s DNA.”

Although the parade cruises through the financial district, Bishop Joey says the parade is ultimately about having fun.

He says, “There’s a serious, social satire aspect to it, but it’s great when adults act stupid.”
