Today (Apr. 1) marks the 30th Annual Saint Stupids Day Parade, where 500 rowdy revelers will celebrate Saint Stupid, who according to Bay-Area religion the First Church of the Last Laugh is the Patron Saint of Parking Meters and Civilizations.
On the parade route, costumed marchers will throw lottery tickets at the Federal Reserve, participate in a sock exchange, and chant sayings like, I know I know, but, ya know, ya never know.
Bishop Joey a leader of the made-up religion says anyone is welcome to the event.
He adds, If youre human, then youre part of the religion. Stupidity is in everyones DNA.
Although the parade cruises through the financial district, Bishop Joey says the parade is ultimately about having fun.
He says, Theres a serious, social satire aspect to it, but its great when adults act stupid.
