Katha Sheehan who runs the The Chicken Store, a chicken sanctuary in Key West, Florida says in her years rescuing roosters, shes learned the language of her feathery friends.
According to Sheehan, chickens are brainy birds who communicate with each other in a very interesting and developed way, and will be buying and selling things on the Internet in 50 years.
And shes hoping all the clucking conversation will help her fulfill a lifelong goal.
Sheehan says, I want to make an English to chicken, chicken to English translator. If we can communicate with animals, well be able to get information from whales and give it to birds.
Though her hens are often referred to as the demon poultry of Key West because of their noisy calls, Sheehan refuses to let anyone, even herself, hurt her cuddly cocks.
She says, People will hit them with golf clubs and bats, and do horrible things, but I wont eat chicken anymore. Friends cant eat friends.
