Big Wheels Keep On Turnin’ For ‘ER’ Doc

TULUM, Mexico (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One former ER star and soul singer is taking center stage for a powerful and poignant encore performance.

From 1994 to 2000, Gloria Reuben played Jeanie Boulet, a physician assistant on the long-running hospital drama who, while caring for her patients, also had to deal with being HIV positive.

And when Reuben steps back into her scrubs for one upcoming episode of ER, she’ll be bringing a message – and some musical muscle – back to the set.

Reuben has toured as a backup singer for Tina Turner, and she says, “It was the most exciting thing I’ve ever done in my life. Music is my first love.”

Yet, while she belted backup for the Queen of Rock & Roll, Reuben says not even rollin’ on the river compares with the rush she gets from her activist work.

Reuben is an outspoken HIV and AIDS activist, and she says, “Since I left ER, there’s hasn’t been an HIV-positive character on TV. It’s wonderful to be able to use Jeanie to remind people that this hasn’t gone away.”

Reuben reprises her ER role tonight (Jan. 3) on NBC.
