Nancy Redd is the author of Body Drama: Real Girls, Real Bodies, Real Issues, Real Answers (Gotham), a brazen book that takes an un-airbrushed look at womens bodies, and Redd says the teenage Spears sis couldve benefitted from her book before getting knocked up.
She says, We should be teaching young girls what normal bodies look like, so theyre not 16 and having sex to figure themselves out. Jamie Lynn was looking to be normal, and the most normal thing she could do was get knocked up.
And Redd, a former Miss America finalist, says her own stint in the spotlight led to some real revelations.
Redd says, Ive been a swimsuit model, Ive been heavier, Ive had zits. Ive been through all the things society perpetuates about what womens bodies should look like. Taping your boobs together thats not real. Now is the time to start getting real.
Body Drama hits stores January 2. For more info, go to Nancyredd.com.
