The Beav’s Kids Get Distracted By ‘Leave It To Beaver’ Reruns

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Leave It To Beaver may be a show of the past, but that’s never stopped sitcom star Jerry Mathers and his kids from loving The Beav.

Mathers – who played the lovable, trouble-making Theodore “Beaver” Cleaver on the classic family sitcom – says although the show is 50 years old, it has always captivated his three kids, especially when they were little.

Mathers says, “My kids are all grown now but when they were younger, TV Land showed Leave It To Beaver in the morning before they went off to school. I’d be running around trying to get them ready before the school bus came and they’d always say, ‘But Dad, I’m in the middle of Leave It To Beaver!’ And I’d say, ‘I’ll tell you how it ends, just please don’t miss the bus again!’”

And while Mathers was just a young boy when he portrayed Beaver Cleaver, he remembers the episodes as clear as day.

Mathers explains, “If you tell me a few main details of an episode I can usually tell you exactly which one you’re talking about. Each episode reminds me of a week of my childhood, and it’s a beautiful thing to have on film.”

Leave It To Beaver airs in syndication on TV Land.
