Spike Jones Still The Life Of His Family’s Christmas Party

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Legendary 1950s bandleader Spike Jones may be gone, but his music still rocks on at his family’s house.

Songtress Helen Grayco, Jones’ wife and singing partner, says you can’t be a guest in the Jones home without listening to some classic Spike Jones hits – especially around Christmas time.

Jones was the comedic bandleader of the upbeat group, The City Slickers, and sang the holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth,” which Grayco and her kids play around the house every Christmas.

Says Grayco: “That song and Spike’s entire Christmas album is standard equipment at our holiday gatherings. Our family listens to it every year!”

And this holiday season Grayco and her children plan on watching some of Jones’ finest comedic and musical works, since the family just finished producing a DVD set titled Spike Jones: The Legend.

Grayco says, “It’s a truly marvelous collection of my husband’s many talents. I’m even in there a few times. I’d forgotten half of the appearances we taped together, so it’s like watching our performances for the first time. It’s beautiful.”

Spike Jones: The Legend is available on DVD today (Oct. 30).
