Don’t Bug Your Computer Pro On Techies Day

BLACKSBURG, Va. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – You bug your local techie with computer bugs all year long, but tomorrow (Oct. 3), techies everywhere deserve a break.

That’s because it’s National Techies Day, a day to give computer technicians some well-deserved recognition for constantly tending to your tech needs, and one Virginia-based techie has the perfect tips on how to thank your favorite PC pro.

William Dunn is a tech support specialist for the computer engineering department at Virginia Tech University, and he says if you want to genuinely thank a techie, you should “look them right in the eye and recognize how hard they work.”

Says Dunn: “Techies are the Jack of all Trades when it comes to computers. It would be cool if people understood that even if we can’t totally fix their computers, we’re trying, damn it! It’s not like we just sit in a tower and play video games all day. We really do work hard.”

But if you want to treat your techie to some real treats, Dunn says a $10 gift card or a 6-pack of good beer are gifts that go a long way.

He adds, “Any little gift is good, as long as it’s not computer-related!”
