Orthopedic Sugeon Eases Patients With Art

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One doctor’s love of anatomy is taking him straight from the operating room to the art gallery.

Dr. Robert Klapper is a Los Angeles-based orthopedic surgeon who treats Hollywood hotshots like Jack Nicholson, Ben Stiller, and Sasha Baron Cohen, but even A-list doctors need an artistic outlet.

When Klapper isn’t caring for celebs, he’s busy sculpting Michelangelo-inspired Carrara marble statues, which he plans on exhibiting at his art gallery August 11th through September 1st.

But while surgery and art may seem like unrelated talents, Klapper says they go hand-in-hand.

Says Klapper: “My knowledge and love of anatomy makes the human form easy for me to sculpt. The motions of distorting and twisting the marble are very similar to the way I work with my hands during surgery. I’m a doctor of both stone and bone!”

And being an artist pays off at his orthopedic practice too, since Klapper’s art displays at his office help “seal the deal” with patients who need surgery.

He explains, “When they see what I can mold into marble, they figure I’m good with my hands, so they’re completely ready for me to do their surgery!”
