‘Dance’ Cast-Off Slips Into Vintage Fashion

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Dancing hopeful Cedric Gardner may have been voted off So You Think You Can Dance, but before groovin’ off stage, he got to don some sweet vintage threads.

Gardner – who was eliminated from the show last Thursday (July 12) – danced with his fellow castmembers on elimination night to “You Cant Stop The Beat” from the upcoming film Hairspray, and says his favorite part about the dance were the duds.

Gardner explains, “The costumes we wore were all vintage 1962 suits and dresses that were taken out of storage just for the performance. It was really cool and authentic.”

But while Gardner looked the part of a Hairspray character, it doesn’t mean he’s entirely ready to play the part on Broadway.

He adds, “I’d love to star in Hairspray, but the problem is that I’m a really bad singer. I’d have to get really good at lip synching and bust out some awesome dance moves so people would forget that I can’t sing!”

So You Think You Can Dance airs Wednesdays and Thursdays, and Hairspray hits theaters this Friday (July 20).
