Hundreds Of Elvises Descend On Branson, Missouri

BRANSON, Mo. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Branson, Missouri, is about to get “all shook up.”

That’s because more than 200 Elvis impersonators will be arriving for the first ever Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist contest on July 11th.

Spokeswoman Jeannie Horton says both male and female Elvises will be competing for the grand prize – a trip to Memphis to compete in the world championships in August – and judges will look at everything from vocals and stage presence to appearance and how nicely they pay tribute to the King – in all his many forms.

Says Horton: “Right now we have a lot of people doing the ‘70s Elvis with the big sideburns and stuff, but we are also having a contest for best ‘50s and ‘60s Elvis.”

Although Horton says the ultimate Elvis winner doesn’t have to master every decade of his life, he or she must be able to “bring the entire Elvis package” when they’re onstage.

She explains: “It’s all about attitude and making the judges feel like Elvis is really in the room.”
