‘Star Wars’ Gets Folky

CHICAGO (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – There’s a new hope for Star Wars fans as Yoda and St. Patrick have finally come together in song.

It’s a galactic Irish jig called “Star Wars (A Film Like No Other)” composed by the band Beatnik Turtle on their website, thesongoftheday.com.

Their spacy song retells the trilogy from blowing up the Death Star to partying with the Ewoks in a folky rocked-out tune.

Saxophonist Randy Chertkow says the song came out of the Irish song “Beer, Beer, Beer” after its first lyric, A long time ago in history, reminded them of Star Wars’ A long time ago in a galaxy far away.

But Beatnik Turtle claims making laser sounds as kids inspired the perfect low-budget sound effects which balanced the force within their song.

Lead singer Jason Feehan says, “The charm comes from sound effects like light sabers, Jabba the Hutt, and a laughing Yoda, all of which are done with our mouths.”
