Blake Lewis Meets His Real ‘Idol’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – He may not have won American Idol, but runner-up Blake Lewis still got the chance to beat-box with his very own idol.

Lewis – who lost the competition to Jordin Sparks last Wednesday (May 23) – says the most exciting part of the Idol finale was duking it out on stage with beat-box legend Doug E. Fresh.

Lewis says, “It was a magical moment, and I’m so excited to end my run on the show with one of my main inspirations.”

Lewis got Fresh to perform with him after meeting his mouth- music mentor more than a month prior to their Idol beat- box blowout.

Says Lewis: “We met backstage and had a beat-box conversation in the hallway. I asked if there was any chance we could perform together, on Idol or after, and he was all for it.”

With their finale freestyle and his fresh fashion sense, Lewis’ modern style may have broke the mold on Idol for good.

Lewis adds, “I hope they keep the contemporary edge I brought to the show. They need to keep playing into what’s current if they want the show to continue succeeding.”
