Former NFL Lineman Throws Checkered Flag

Los Angeles (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – One former athlete is hoping to bring some unexpected guests to his new hard-hitting career on the talk-show circuit.

Former NFL Eagles defenseman Hugh Douglas is co- hosting Ballers, a late-night sports talk show with a laid back vibe much different than life in the huddle.

The show, filmed at the L.A. hotspot, The Platinum Club, includes waitresses, drinks, and live music, but it’s the fresh and surprising sports angles Douglas is most interested in covering.

He confesses, “I like NASCAR. I’m probably the only black guy who’s been to a NASCAR race. I’d enjoy having Dale Earnhardt Jr. or Tony Stewart on as guests.”

Although the show’s focus is sports and issues central to the black community, Douglas says “any guest is a good guest.”

That includes NFL superstar and notorious troublemaker Terrell (T.O.) Owens, with whom Douglas publicly exchanged words, and blows, in a 2005 locker room brawl.

Though he’s not scheduled, Douglas says, “T.O. can come on. He’s a very interesting character.”

Ballers airs Tuesday nights on BET.
