John Salley Is Back Home And Having A ‘Ballers’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Sports journalist John Salley is returning to his home turf – and having a Ballers.

That’s the title of his new sports series on BET, which is where he got his start on TV hosting BET Live for 86 episodes.

He admits he’s happy to be home “working with my people,” although he’s quick to point out that BET’s biggest audience “is white kids watching the videos.”

Salley is hosting the sports talk show with former NFL star Hugh Douglas and comedian Guy Torry, and says the show should be an antidote to the current strife because “if anything can bring people together, it’s sports.”

Salley hopes to have controversial stars like Pacman Jones on the show, but says he won’t be confrontational just to be confrontational.

In his words, “I see myself as like Oprah Winfrey. She gives her guests a platform and only went off on a guy who lied to her.”

However, he promises athletes, “If you come at me with your bravado, I’ll come back at you with mine.”

Ballers premieres tonight (Apr. 20).
