Teddy Pendergrass Looking For Teddy Girl

PHILADELPHIA (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – This year marks the 25th anniversary that soul singer Teddy Pendergrass suffered a spinal cord injury and lost his ability to walk.

He admits society at large might look upon the event with a “sorrowful attitude,” but Pendergrass prefers to celebrate how the accident showed him how he can conquer adversity.

As such, he is hosting Teddy 25: A Celebration Of Life, Hope And Possibilities, a gala event in Philadelphia on June 10 that will feature singers like Patti LaBelle and Ruben Studdard performing Pendergrass classics like “The Love I Lost” and “If You Don’t Know Me By Now.”

Pendergrass says the event is meant “to publicly thank key individuals who’ve helped me since 1982.”

The event will also herald in a new era in Pendergrass’ career as a clothing mogul.

Back in the early ’80s, Pendergrass had his own line of Teddy Jeans, and figures the 25th anniversary of his accident is a good time to revive the line.

That’s why he’s currently looking for a “Teddy Girl” who is in her late 20s to early ’40 who, as he puts it, “exudes strength, intelligence and self- confidence.”

He also wants a woman who isn’t a size 2, because, he points out, “the jeans are made for women who have a derriere.”
