Art Imitates Life For ‘Black Donnellys’ Star

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Art really does imitate life for one of the stars of the NBC drama, The Black Donnellys.

Jonathan Tucker plays thug-turned-artist Tommy Donnelly on the new show and he admits the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree – when art was concerned.

Says Tucker: “My dad is a professor at UMass Boston – the only public college in the city. He has students – mainly older with kids – drive for a hour on the bus just to listen to his lecture about French Impressionism.”

Tucker says it’s this passion for art that’s really helped him develop his character – along with stories from his dad – but he admits he had to look elsewhere when it came to finding his inner thug.

As he puts it, “Boston has some pretty rough neighborhoods.”

The Black Donnellys airs Monday nights.
