Headlines Ripped From ‘Law & Order: SVU’; Not Other Way Around

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The plots of Law & Order: SVU often seem ripped from the headlines, but show producer Dr. Neal Baer thinks the headlines are actually ripped from his show.

Baer, who is also a pediatrician, says he’s surprised at how many episodes of the NBC drama have predicted real-life news events.

For instance, there was the recent case of a man in his late twenties who disguised himself as a junior high student that Baer says was amazingly similar to an SVU plot.

Except, he points out, “Our perp was a woman.”

In addition, SVU shined a light on sexual predators on the internet long before Dateline: NBC started its To Catch A Predator series.

However, Baer says there is no chance of that show’s host, Chris Hansen, ever doing a crossover cameo with SVU stars Mariska Hargitay, Christopher Meloni and Ice-T.
