Countries Clamor For Spot On ‘Amazing Race’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Contestants on The Amazing Race travel the globe for a million bucks, but the show’s creator says there’s some places the producers won’t go to for any amount of money.

Creator Bertram Van Munster says he is very picky when it comes to the countries he chooses for each race, but admits some are completely out of his control. Says Van Munster: “There are definitely places in the world we can’t go to because it’s just too dangerous right now. It’s too bad because there are so many beautiful places out there.”

He says countries like Cuba, Iran and Iraq are ruled out right away and other countries are chosen by convenience or invitation.

As he points out, “We’ve had the ambassador in Singapore ask us to stop by and we get invitations from different places all the time.”

Season 11 of The Amazing Race: All-Stars premieres this Sunday (Feb. 18) on CBS.
