Patrick Warburton Doesn’t Want To Be Spoon Fed

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Actor Patrick Warburton is starring on the new CBS comedy, The Rules Of Engagement, and he has some rules of engagement himself.

Warburton – who is best known as “Puddy” from Seinfeld – plays a slightly cynical married guy who is friends with a single guy played by David Spade and a soon-to-be hitched man played by Oliver Hudson and he says it’s his favorite project after Seinfeld and The Tick.

But he says the key to his comedy is simplicity.

As he puts it, “I go with what’s in the script and don’t want it spoon fed or spelled out for me.”

Since a lot of the show requires him to listen to the other guys’ perceptions of marriage before making his own acerbic comments, Warburton is making sure engage in a lot of listening off camera as well.

In his words, “Oliver, David and I have been hanging out, chatting and listening to David’s stories. He has lots of stories and I like hearing them. It’s really important in a comedy to be on both ends, acting and reacting.”

The Rules Of Engagement debuts Monday (Feb. 5).
