Film Fans Say ‘Dreamgirls,’ DiCaprio Got The Oscar Shaft

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – How’s this for a paradox: Leonardo DiCaprio is up for a Best Actor Oscar, but a lot of film fans think he got the shaft.

According to a survey by the online movie ticketing service, 24 percent of film fans think DiCaprio’s work in The Departed was unfairly looked over in the 2006 Oscar nominations.

In addition, 22 percent say Jack Nicholson should have been nominated for his work in the same movie, and 20 percent think Sacha Baron Cohen’s performance in Borat deserved to be considered.

Meanwhile, 18 percent are still dreaming that Beyonce Knowles would get an Oscar nod for Dreamgirls and 10 percent say the fact that Maggie Gyllenhaal didn’t get nominated for Stranger Than Fiction is pretty strange as well.

As far as films go, 52 percent of moviegoers are shocked that Dreamgirls wasn’t nominated for Best Picture while 21 percent wish United 93 was one of the nominees in that category.
