‘They’re The Best Team We’ve Played So Far’ Top Super Bowl Cliche

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The Super Bowl isn’t until February 4 but some folks are already predicting the outcome.

However, a psychologist in Farmington Hills, Michigan, prefers to predict which cliches will be spouted from now until then.

Dr. Don Powell – who prefers to be known as “Dr. Cliche” – says it’s a sure bet that, at some point, somebody from the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts will say, “They’re the best team we’ve played so far.”

In addition, he expects Peyton Manning or Rex Grossman will say, “We’ve got to play our best game of the year.”

Other cliches that will be passed off as insight include “We have the utmost respect for (fill in opponent)” and “The team with the fewest turnovers will win.”

Sure, the cliches are annoying and trite but Dr. Powell says they serve as “verbal comfort foods” that will allow the players and coaches on the Bears and the Colts to be quoted without inflaming the opposition.

He says journalists will also get into the act by saying the game is “a great match-up.”
