Elvira Sets Comic Book Record

HOLLYWOOD (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The mistress of the dark known as Elvira is turning a new page in her career by setting a record.

The horror movie hostess has set a record by having the longest-running American comic book based on an actual living celebrity.

Elvira: Mistress Of The Dark debuted on comic book store shelves back in 1993, and will end its run next month with the 166th issue.

That beats previous celebrity comic books like The Adventures Of Jerry Lewis, which ran for 124 issues in the 1950s and 1960s; and The Adventures Of Bob Hope, which ran for 109 issues back in the 1950s.

Although some might argue that Elvira is merely a character portrayed by actress Cassandra Peterson, she points out that the real Jerry Lewis is nothing like the character that appears in his movies.

Peterson is happy with the quality of the books, but plans to pursue other literary opportunities including some graphic novels and a line of childrens books.

In addition, Peterson will be starring as Elvira in a proposed reality series.
