Gilby Clarke Hopes Rockstar: Supernova Doesn’t Burn Out

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Although industry wags have predicted that the new super group Rockstar: Supernova will be a “one and done” affair, guitarist Gilby Clarke sincerely hopes that’s not the case.

The band had its debut gig on January 1 and starts a nationwide tour Tuesday (Jan. 16) in Hollywood, Florida, and is keeping his fingers crossed that it will become a permanent gig.

Clarke says he’s always wanted to be in a band with a great drummer, a great bass player and an incredible singer, but admits sales of both the debut CD and the tour will determine whether Supernova shines on or burns out.

He admits: “The album isn’t selling too good right now.”

Still, he is excited about the tour, which will not only feature lead singer Lukas Rossi, who won the role on the CBS reality show last summer, but also performances by finalists Dilana, Magni and Toby.

Clarke says he plans to mentor the new musicians on tour and points out, “even though Lukas has experience being on tour, he’s never had to do an hour and 15-minute headlining show before.”

Besides being out on the road, Clarke will be in record stores starting January 30, when Gilby Clarke, a self-titled compilation CD, hits stores.
