Are You A ‘Brand Slut’ Into ‘Gastroporn’?

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Marketing can be a down and dirty job, and some of the hot new terms in the industry sound downright pornographic.

For instance, if you’re a consumer who flits from one brand to the next, you’re a “brand slut,” and if you watch cooking shows but don’t actually cook, you may be into “gastroporn.”

Those are just two new marketing terms that marketing experts Marian Salzman and Ira Matathia predict will be hot during the next 12 months.

Other bizarre buzzwords that appear in the duo’s upcoming new book, Next Now (Palgrave Macmillan) include....

  • “Bangalore Envy,” which is the emotion felt by a displaced tech worker when his employer outsources his job to India.

  • “Churchonomics” is when businesses sponsor events at religious institutions in order to inspire positive word-of-mouth from worshippers.

Finally, a soccer mom who uses two BlackBerries, a mobile phone and a PDA to keep the home running smoothly is now called a “She-E-O.”
