Reality Show Brings Back A Different Kind Of ‘Grease’

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Grease is going to be the main word on NBC’s newest reality series.

That’s because a new show, Grease: You’re The One That I Want, allows Americans to cast their votes on who should be cast as Danny and Sandy for the upcoming Broadway revival of the hit musical.

The show debuts Sunday (Jan. 7) and the producers figure the American Idol audition process is fitting since there have been many famous folks who’ve got their break appearing in the stage musical, including John Travolta.

Although the first three episodes will focus on the bad auditions, Jim Jacobs – who created the musical back in 1971 – says none of those who applied for this revival show have been as weird as the ones he’s seen on other versions of Grease.

Besides having the key roles chosen by America, the revived Grease will be different from other versions of the stage musical since it will feature songs that were written especially for the movie, including “Grease (Is The Word),” “Sandy,” and “You’re The One That I Want.”
