Competitive Eaters Go Nuts

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The world of competitive eating is going nuts tomorrow (Dec. 20) – date nuts, to be specific.

That’s because the International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE) is holding its first ever “Date Nut Bread-Eating Championship” and one competitive eater hopes his skills and last name will pay off during the contest.

Joey Chestnut – who is currently the “Sausage-Eating Champion” – says he’s been practicing for the nut bread event by baking and eating his own bread at home in hopes of expanding his stomach.

Despite eating it day in, day out, Chestnut insists that he enjoys the taste of the nutty bread.

He adds, “I haven’t gotten sick of it yet. It’s really good, especially with coffee to dip it in.”

Aside from his rigorous practicing, Chestnut hopes his surname will also help intimidate other competitive eaters.

Says Chestnut: “Hopefully they’ll be scared because my name is ‘Chestnut’ and we are eating nut bread.”

He jokes, “I need some ‘Team Chestnut’ shirts to psyche them out.”
