Old Holiday Films Beat Out Present Day Classics

DALLAS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Americans may be obsessed with youth but not when it comes to holiday films.

According to a new survey by Blockbuster, older Christmas films like It’s A Wonderful Life still rank higher with film fans than newer movies like The Polar Express.

In fact, the 1946 Jimmy Stewart classic is the No. 1 holiday film, garnering nearly 15 percent of the vote, followed by the 1983 film, A Christmas Story.

Other films making the list including Miracle On 34th Street, which was selected by 11 percent.

  • 9 percent say National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation puts them in the holiday mood.

  • 8 percent get tickled pink watching Rudolph The Red- Nosed Reindeer.

  • 5 percent are dreaming of watching White Christmas.

  • 4 percent love How The Grinch Stole Christmas.

  • Finally, the newest film making the list is 2004’s The Polar Express, which received 4 percent of votes.
