Danica McKellar: “Math Isn’t Scary”

DALLAS (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Danica McKellar is best known for playing Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years but she would really like to play a math teacher – on movie sets that is.

McKellar plays a motherly sleuth in Inspector Mom, which premieres Saturday (Nov. 18) on the Lifetime Movie Network.

But while she has a degree in advanced math, none of the actors who played her kids in the movie wanted her help with their own math homework.

Says McKellar: “I’m always offering, but no one ever takes me up on it.”

McKellar admits she’s a self-proclaimed “math addict” and says she discovered her love of numbers at UCLA when people would praise her for being more than just “that girl on TV.”

She says she wants kids to realize math can be fun instead of the “judgmental” subject it is often thought of.

As she puts it, “I want to connect math with joy – not right next to having to eat your vegetables.”
