The band is called the New York Ukulele Ensemble and makes its world debut tomorrow (Oct. 31) at a Greenwich Village masquerade ball.
The Uke Ensemble is the brainchild of a man named Uke Jackson, who says the New York-style of ukulele is more driving and edgier than the Hawaiian technique.
So is the bands set list. Instead of tunes like My Little Grass Shack, the Ensemble jams on Dont Fear The Reaper and Gangstas Paradise.
Jackson says the band has two major goals: Inspiring others to pick up the instrument and getting through a whole concert without ever playing Tiny Bubbles.
