Celebrate National Dine With Your Dog Day (Oct. 21)

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Chew on this: Saturday (Oct. 21) marks the first ever National Dine With Your Dog Day.

The doggone holiday will take place at various pet stores around the U.S. and allow pooch owners to take part in dog food eating contests with their pets.

It sounds gross but actor Jimmy Van Patten, who helps run the Natural Balance pet food company, promises that his dog food is palatable to human tastebuds.

As he puts it, “The food is processed at a plant for humans and comes in flavors like Chinese Take Out and Southern Dumplings.”

Van Patten admits he sometimes sneaks a taste of it when feeding it to his own pet cockapoo.

But while National Dine With Your Dog Day is meant to be a fun event, Van Patten says there’s a serious side as well: The event will raise money for animal charities, while reminding people that if Fido is truly man’s best friend, he should be worth having a meal with sometimes.
