Author Has A Hard Time Stomaching Lamb’s Head

LEONIA, N.J. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The world is full of picky eaters, but some exotic foods tie even the most adventurous tummies in knots – especially when the cuisine’s eyeballs are still intact.

Doris Friedensohn found this out the hard way when she was dining in Greece.

She’s the author of the new book Eating as I Go: Scenes from America and Abroad (University Press of Kentucky) and says she has chowed down on everything from crickets in Mexico to hot stew in Nepal using only her bare hands.

Still, the most disgusting thing she has ever tried to swallow is baby lamb’s head with the eyes still attached.

She tried that dubious dish on a small island in Greece; and Friedensohn claims that, for some reason, “Real Greeks love the eyeballs.”

Friedensohn, though, just couldn’t shake the image of the wooly animal’s face from her mind – and had to stop eating midway through the meal.
