World’s Largest Beach Towel Rolls Out Tomorrow (June 28)

HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Tomorrow (June 28) should be a hot day in Hermosa Beach, California – at least for bath towels.

That’s because the World’s Largest Beach Towel will be officially unveiled in the Southern California beach town.

The record-setting towel measures 125-feet-by 75-feet and easily blankets the previous towel record of 98.5 feet by 65.7 feet, which was set last August in Germany.

In addition, the titanic terry cloth towel weighs a whopping 800 pounds.

The world record towel is being sponsored by Nabisco, which is using the event to promote its new line of toasted chips.

After the unveiling, which is being hosted by noted celebrity and tanning guru George Hamilton, the towel will be flown back to the Kraft Foods building in East Hanover, New Jersey, where it will be on permanent display.
