British Soccer Fan Putting His Foot Forward For U.S. Team

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – The U.S. Soccer team plays in the World Cup starting June 12 and, believe it or not, at least one man in America cares about it.

Unfortunately, he’s British – and going back home next week.

His name is Dean Maynard and he’s a ghostbuster in the United Kingdom who is supporting the U.S. team because two players, Bobby Convey and Marcus Hahnemann, play for his hometown team of Reading.

Maynard is putting magic where his mouth is on Wednesday (May 17) when he performs a good luck ritual that he says has been successful six out of six times, including helping the Chicago White Sox win the World Series.

He basically melts a candle near a team picture and than wraps up everything in a sealed envelope that isn’t opened until the end of the World Cup.

Depending on how the spell turns out for the U.S. team, Maynard jokes he might do one to increase American interest in soccer.
