The Temptations Put New Group Members Through ‘American Idol’-Style Interview

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Becoming a member of The Temptations is not so different from auditioning for American Idol.

That’s according to original Temptations member Otis Williams, who is currently touring to promote the group’s new album, The Temptations Reflections.

There’s no snarky Simon Cowell, but when asked if the screening process is like American Idol, the baritone Williams says, “There’s a resemblance.”

Williams says new members have to be able to prove they can sing and dance. He adds, “There’a method to the madness.”

But as he explains, they have to have the personality of a Temptation to mesh with the group.

In his words, “Aside from that, we’re interested in the character of a person.”
