‘Office’ Creator Reveals His Penchant For Doodling

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ricky Gervais, the star and co-creator of the British show The Office, will soon appear in cartoon form on The Simpsons. What many people don’t know is that the comedian himself draws cartoons.

Gervais wrote the upcoming March 26 episode of The Simpsons, but he says if he was asked to, he could have probably drawn the cartoon as well.

The actor who doodles on the side explains, “All the hard work’s been done...You can always emulate something that’s been [done] before. The genius is coming up with something that hasn’t been done before.”

For him, that may be a series of children’s books full of bizarre creatures he’s created called Flanimals (Faber and Faber), which he says are for “children, delinquent teenagers and mentally challenged adults.”

He says Flanimals is going to be turned into a British TV series for kids, which should be interesting since, “Every one of [the creatures] dies an ironic death.”
