According to Dr. Alan Hirsch, who runs the Chicago-based Smell & Taste Treatment and Research Foundation, peoples taste in foods also provides a taste of their personality.
For instance, folks who like their cheese cut up in cubes are conscientious perfectionists, but those who prefer starburst shapes are intellectual introverts.
Hirsch says there are about a dozen different food groups that work as personality indicators, but says people who favor a food in one group will usually favor a particular food in another grouping. For instance, potato chip eaters are usually big fans of chocolate ice cream.
And while there are many different foods that indicate personality, Hirsch says you can prevent a bad relationship by avoiding people who like strawberries and cream ice cream they tend to be cranky pessimists.
Hirsch discusses his tasteful research in a new book, Whats Your Food Sign? (STC publishing).
