Colorado Gay Ski Week Welcomes Gays To ‘Brokeback Mountain’ Party

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE, Colo. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Now that interest in Brokeback Mountain has piqued, a ski village in Colorado hopes gays will grab their poles and come on its peaks on Oscar Night (Mar. 5).

It’s no snow job: The town of Mountain Village, Colorado, will hold its week-long Telluride Gay Ski Week starting February 26, which will culminate with their Brokeback Mountain Oscar Night Finale.

Spokesman John McGill says the event has always put an emphasis on the Academy Awards, but says “being in the mountains, there’s an automatic tie-in to the film.”

The Oscar night will feature a six-course meal, but partygoers will not have to eat canned beans and soup like the characters in the movie.

In addition, McGill says the bottom of the hill which is called the “Beach,” will be dubbed “Brokeback Mountain Beach” for the week.

Other scheduled events include the Blue Ball Pool Party on March 1, and White Night Powder Party on March 2.
