Ahmad Rashad Jumping Through Hoops To Provide Peek Into NBA Community

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Ahmad Rashad is jumping through hoops to show a different side of the NBA.

Rashad is the host of NBA Access, a new magazine-style show debuting Saturday (Jan. 28) on ABC, and his goal is to show just how diverse the NBA is, from players, personnel to ownership.

As he puts it, “We want to take another step so that people really know that team, know that owner. For instance, we’re following a dancer for the Seattle Supersonics and showing how she’s studying to be a dentist like her father.”

Rashad admits there is an impression that the NBA is all tall African-Americans, but he figures the show will reveal that “many of the best players are white and not even American, such as Steve Nash.”

Rashad himself is looking forward to “knowing everything about a player that has nothing to do with basketball. For instance, off the court, you wouldn’t know that Nash is the best point guard because he’s so well-read.”
