Seagal recently recorded Mojo Priest, an all-star blues album featuring duets with blues greats like Ruth Brown, Bo Diddley and Koko Taylor on classic tunes and his original blues songs.
You might not think of Seagal in the same breath as Eric Clapton, but he says he grew up with the music and plays an older style of blues than others. No pick, just my fingers.
Blues music is derived from gospel, but Seagal also sees links with his own belief in Buddhism, because blues expresses suffering while Buddhism teaches how to transcend suffering while acknowledging its existence.
Seagal is currently in Romania filming a movie but he plans to release his blues recordings in both CD and DVD versions in February.
