Blue Eyes And Biggie Smalls Making Some Posthumous Noise

BROOKLYN, N.Y. (Wireless Flash - FlashNews) – Frank Sinatra’s epitaph reads: “The Best Is Yet To Come,” but old blue eyes probably never dreamed that could mean having his hit “Fools Rush In” mixed with slain rapper Notorious B.I.G., aka Biggie Smalls’, “10 Crack Commandments.”

Brooklyn-based DJ Cappel and his friend Smitty have done 12 “mash ups” of Sinatra and Biggie songs for a project called Blue Eyes Meets Bed-Stuy – Bed-Stuy being Biggie’s old New York neighborhood, Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Cappel admits, “It would definitely be a big surprise for [Sinatra]. I don’t know if it’s the best, but it’s different.”

He says the compilation of hits is big in New York and L.A., but unfortunately, “everyone in the record industry is scared to touch it because it’s hard to clear the samples.”

In his words, “It’s as illegal as it gets,” but he explains, “[Smitty and I] are trying to spark a change in the music industry.”

He says they’ll keep doing mash ups, but insists some artists just shouldn’t be mashed, “like Richard Simmons and Chingy.”
